App tour

Ten screens, start to finish

This is the app as you meet it, in the order you meet it — from the first launch through an ordinary day of capturing, planning and finishing. The layouts below are faithful representations of the shipped screens.

1 First launch

Three pages, then straight to work

Onboarding explains what the app is for and gets out of the way. You can step back through it with a button or with system back, and skip it entirely. The notification permission is asked for after onboarding, never on top of it.

  • Page one welcomes you and explains the Today-first idea
  • Page two shows the four pillars: Smart Add, multiple views, Pomodoro, analytics
  • Page three hands over the app with a single "Get Started" button

2 The main screen

Your task list, with the projects you actually use

A horizontal chip row puts every project one tap away, including the permanent Inbox. Below it, tasks appear instantly — the list is read from the local database, so there is no spinner between you and your work.

  • Swipe a row to complete or delete, with an Undo snackbar every time
  • Priority flags, due chips, label pills and subtask counts at a glance
  • Scroll position and selection survive tab switches
  • If the database ever fails to load, you get an explanation and a "Try again" button

3 Capture

Smart Add understands the whole sentence

As you type, the sheet annotates what it has recognised. Anything it claimed is removed from the title, and you can tap a chip to give that word back — so the parser never silently rewrites your task.

  • Priority row and project picker stay visible for one-tap overrides
  • Unknown @labels are created for you on save
  • Unmatched #words stay in the title instead of vanishing
  • A time with no date means today; a time already past rolls to tomorrow

4 Detail

Everything else is one scroll away

The detail sheet holds every field a task can have, but a simple task only shows the simple ones. Notes support Markdown with a live preview, and the activity log records what changed and when.

  • Subtasks with bi-directional checkboxes — tick one and it opens its own sheet
  • Dependencies with cycle detection, so a plan cannot block itself
  • Up to five attachments, 5 MB each, copied into private storage
  • Reminders, comments and a 30-entry history trail

5 Planning

Overdue first, then today, then the week

Today puts anything you missed at the top under a red header, with today's work underneath. Upcoming extends that to the next seven days, grouped under day headings so you can see the shape of the week before you commit to it.

  • Live counts and a tab badge for overdue plus due-today
  • "All clear!" and "Nothing upcoming" states that say what is true
  • Complete or delete from either view, with undo

6 Retrieval

Find it before you finish typing

Search runs over an on-device full-text index of titles and descriptions. Queries are debounced and each word is matched as a prefix, so results update as you type rather than after you stop.

  • Ordinary words are never filtered out — searching "drop off the keys" works
  • Every query is safely quoted and bound, so there is no injection surface
  • Results are actionable: complete, delete and undo without leaving search

7 Organisation

Labels, filters and the drawer

Labels cut across projects — the same @errand tag can gather a task from work, home and the Inbox. Tap a label in the drawer and you get its own actionable list, not a dead end.

  • Saved filters combine status, priority, project, labels, due range and text with AND/OR
  • Star a project or filter to pin it to the Favorites group
  • Folders collapse whole groups of projects in the drawer

8 Doing the work

Focus mode and the Pomodoro timer

When the list is the problem, Focus mode shows one task and nothing else. TaskFlow chooses the most urgent one for you and lets you swap it. Start the Pomodoro and the countdown keeps running even if you leave the app.

  • Work, short break and long break lengths are fully configurable
  • Pause, resume and stop from the ongoing notification
  • Completed focus minutes become the "Focus time" metric in analytics

9 Making it yours

Settings that actually change something

Five tabs: Appearance, General, Notifications, Focus and Data. Theme, accent, font scale, formats and quiet hours are all applied immediately, and invalid input tells you so instead of being silently ignored.

  • Eight accents plus a custom hex field with real validation
  • Quiet hours warn you when start and end are identical
  • Export and import live here, along with "Delete all data"

10 Safety net

Nothing is lost by accident

Deleting a task moves it to Trash for thirty days. Deleting a project sends the project and its tasks there too — with an Undo right in the confirmation snackbar. Permanent deletion is always a second, explicit decision.

  • "Expires in n days" warnings once a task has three days left
  • Restore one task, or empty the whole Trash behind a confirmation
  • A daily cleanup job removes only what has actually expired
